Alex Bauman granted injunction, set to join Michigan after Miami stint
Former Miami tight end Alex Bauman received a court-ordered injunction from a Michigan probate court this week, clearing him to enter the transfer portal and compete for a fifth college season. Michigan reportedly plans to add Bauman alongside former Boise State cornerback Jeremiah Earby, both of whom secured temporary restraining orders granting an additional year of eligibility, according to CBS Sports. Bauman spent the 2025 season at Miami, where he caught 18 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown across 16 games after previously playing three seasons at Tulane. He went undrafted in this year's NFL Draft and is now expected to join a Michigan offense that has seen limited production at the tight end position.
Both were granted TROs giving them another year of eligibility and both have now enrolled at Michigan.
Why it matters
For coaches: Michigan's coaching staff gains an experienced tight end who can both block and catch at a critical point in the Big Ten season.
For athletes: College athletes who exhaust eligibility may have legal avenues to compete beyond their expected final season.
